geodetic datum

A 3D coordinate system used to define the precise location of points on the Earth's surface. It serves as the basis for geodetic measurements and the establishment of coordinate systems, allowing for accurate positioning and mapping of features and objects. The World Geodetic System (WGS84) is commonly used, but others include ETRF89, NAD83, NAD27, RGF93 and more.
